The application process begins with

College Day at Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC) for Cumberland County American Indian students attending Cape Fear High School. The college Day will include transportation to and from the event by the Cumberland County Indian Education staff. Lunch will be provided. Students will have the opportunity to discover what degree and certificate programs FTCC offers as well as admission requirements. Scholarship and financial aid opportunities will be shared. Students will tour campus and hear from former and current American staff and students on the campus. Join us for a great day as we discover FTCC.

Deep Roots, Strong Ties: A Day of Indigenous Excellence will be held on Nov. 8, 2022. Students will hear motivational speakers Sterling Harjo a writer and producer and Tatanka Means an award winning actor. You will enjoy a cultural celebration and have the opportunity to have social and academic networking. The program will provide College Admission Prep sessions that will assist you in the admission process at most colleges you may apply for. Lunch will be provided. Come join us for the fantastic day.

This service will provide Educational Kits or Supplies for American Indian students attending Robeson Community College for College and Career Promise (CCP) courses. CCP provides apprenticeships and training programs that lead to industry certifications or college enrollment. The kits or supplies will be provided to the Public Schools of Robeson County students enrolled at RCC in the CCP classes. These materials may be needed for, but not limited to the following courses that lead to a certificate or class credit: cosmetology, EMT, welding, CNA, ect.

This service will provide American Indian Students with Technology Materials that are needed for educational purposes, College classes, CCP classes at RCC, camp participation and other programs offered through this grant. These materials may include but are not limited to the following: Hardware (computer, headphones and/or microphones) required/needed for academics, certification courses, classes or programs student is enrolled in Software (computer programs) required/needed for academics, certification courses, classes or programs student is enrolled in Materials that are necessary for the participation and success in courses, camps and programs. Educational materials will remain within the budget allotted by the program and the materials should match those typically used or provided by the school system.

Students enrolled in CCP Classes at Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC) who must have a textbook can apply for payment for the textbook. The student should not make payment for textbook. The tribal staff will approve payment and send payment to FTCC. The student will receive and email or text when payment is approved.

Enrollment opportunities for college transfer students and potential community college students will be discussed.

Project IndigeCoice is a five-year United States Department of Education grant, awarded to the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina to serve American Indian students. The Assessing Choices in Education (ACE) grant was designed to allow the Lumbee Tribe to set up a variety of education options and services from which parents or students can choose. The grant will begin providing services and programs October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2025.
